A walking tour of Floyd Bennett Field and Dead Horse Bay. Floyd Bennett Field was the city’s first municipal airport, opened in the 30’s on the western edge of Jamaica Bay. Right across Flatbush Ave from Floyd Bennett is Dead Horse Bay, home of a former landfill, which has burst and now leaks vintage glass bottles and old shoes onto the small beach.
