Red Hook Walk
Spring Walk: Red Hook
On Saturday, June 8th readers and friends joined me for a walk around Red Hook, Brooklyn, in conjunction with the publication of Plant Out of Place, the first in a series of three pamphlets about spontaneous urban plants and how they migrate, along with people, around the world. We thought about the history of the neighborhood, looked at some weeds and learned how they came to be here, and enjoyed the waterfront.
Walks are planned in conjunction with my ongoing publishing venture, Brain Washing from Phone Towers, a series of informational pamphlets published on a variety of informative topics. The theme for 2019’s pamphlets is Weeds as Parable; three pamphlets on spontaneous urban plant life and how they have traveled around the world. Walks organized around these publications are casual and friendly, and are open to all.
